Parasailin' and Jeepin' in Mexico

I did my first cruise with DreamTrips! All I can say is that I was THRILLED to be back on the sea again! Any spare moment I had I spent in the library with large windows and an open book. Heaven... :)

The cruise line was on the Carnival Miracle to Cabo San Lucas and Puerta Vallarta. The Carnival team onboard were AWESOME. When the inevitable dilemmas that come with travel popped up - lining up our welcome reception and managing our group - the staff supported me 100%. I cannot say enough about their efforts.

Because of dilemmas and some less-than-pleasant customers, the trip had a rough start and I was putting in 14-16 hour days trying to get everything figured out. I ran on prayers and lots of power naps! :) Despite the rough start however, I had an incredible time and made some life-changing memories!

First of all, I got to stay on the Queen Mary in Long Beach! My little historian heart was on fire! :) I absolutely loved reading every plack and wondering what it must have been like for the original passengers and the WWII soldiers crossing the Atlantic.

My room was TINY and full of original furnishings. The toilet in particular was great!

The first excursion my group did was parasailing. A first for me and I absolutely LOVED the views and the quiet, peaceful feel up above the ocean!

The best part was going with a small family in our group with kids that had never done anything like this before. It made the whole experience feel like Disneyland. :)

The second excursion was "Hidden Mexico and Traditions". In my book, EVERY person who goes to Puerta Vallarta should go on this trip. Our tour guide took our small group way up into the mountains to her home village. It was a full-day, sitting in the back of jeeps, rough-roading our way up past tiny villages.

Honestly, I expected the day to be like the cruise - posh - and was pleasantly surprised when the whole experience turned out to be legit and adventurous. One of the best parts was sitting in the river on benches while our guides made real Mexican food and told us about their area. Made me miss Mexico - Colonia Juarez - like none other! :)

The cruise was a highlight and I cannot wait to do one again down the road. I love this miracle of a job!

Safe travels, friends!
